Voltage and temperature measurement
Smart Battery Sense is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for Victron MPPT solar chargers. When measuring voltage and temperature, charging of batteries will improve, which increases charging efficiency and prolongs battery life. Suitable for lead and for lithium batteries.
Improves battery charge
By measuring voltage at the battery terminals, voltage loss is avoided due to conductivity resistance, thus ensuring correct charging voltage. In the case of lead batteries, data from the battery temperature are used to adjust the charging voltage values: cold batteries require higher charging voltage while hot batteries require lower charging voltage. When looking forward to lithium batteries, data from the battery temperature is used to disable charging when the batteries are too cold: charging lithium batteries at or below freezing causes permanent damage to the cells.

The connection between Smart Battery Sense and one or more solar chargers is wireless: It uses VE.Smart Network - a wireless technology based on Bluetooth Smart. Transferred data can be used simultaneously by one, two or more solar chargers connected to the same 12V, 24V or 48V battery. The intelligent network is configured using the VictronConnect app.
Simple, setup, easy to use
The installation is simple, fast and uncomplicated. All you have to do is connect the two terminals of the device to the battery terminals and then the Smart Battery Sense device directly to the battery using self-adhesive tape.
Introducing the VE.Smart Network
A VE.Smart Network is a wireless network which allows a number of Victron products to exchange information. It is a wireless technology using Bluetooth Smart.
Use VE.Smart to add remote voltage- and temperature- sensing to your Victron MPPT Solar Chargers. Connect the new Smart Battery Sense, to a Solar Charger. The Solar Charger will receive battery voltage & temperature information, and use that data to optimize its charge parameters. This will improve charging-efficiency and prolong battery life.
